I really appreciate your thoughtful responses and feedback on my situation with my daughters. The conversations you have with your son are so important and expressing them is helpful for people like myself who never had to deal with these inequities. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you are writing about them as well because you have important points to make that are worth adding to the conversation. My girls being teenagers can complicate many of the conversations we are having. At minimum, I want them to see their mom fighting for their fair treatment and fighting racial injustice, if not to role model what I hope they do, to know I have their back and am seeking to learn how to do that better.
